11 Plus Exam Results

Friday, 6 March 2009 07:44 by 11PlusSwot

Many of you by now will know your 11 Plus exam results. If you worked hard and were fortunate to pass and get a place at the grammar school of your choice - well done and congratulations! Please drop us an email at support@11plusswot.co.uk as we would like to add you to the web site and celebrate in your success.

for those that didn't get the school they wanted it may not be over yet. It may be possible to go onto the waiting list at the grammar school and be short listed if a place becomes avaialble.

We know of a case where a daughter failed to get into the grammar school of her choice. Her parents wrote to the school putting their case as to why they thought their daughter was worthy of a place and several weeks later she was invited to the school for an interview after one of the other pupils dropped out. She was accepted into the grammar school and went on to obtain 4 A levels  and is doing very well studying law at university.

Good luck to you all.

Increase in demand for grammar school places.

Saturday, 14 February 2009 09:25 by 11PlusSwot

Grammar school places will be more oversubscribed than usual thanks to the credit crunch. It seems that parents who are struggling with school fees are looking to Grammar schools. And why not? They are some of the best performing schools in the country.

Many grammar schools are reporting huge rises in the number of applications. Unfortunately the number of places available will stay the same so competition will be extra tough.

What this boils down to is the simple fact that only the children that have revised and prepared will get through which is why it is so important for parents to do their homework and prepare as well. It’s no good swotting up a week or 2 before the exam; you need to have a plan in place at least 6 months if not a year in place where you can pace your child through the different online tests and paper tests available. It is a one off opportunity so get it right.

The message is simple – If you fail to plan you are planning to fail.
